ALPS were called in to discuss low level ‘blast resistant’ louvres between the main support buttresses together with high level natural ventilation and rain defence louvres.
The ALPS / Colt galvanized steel 1UL/DH system was used for the ‘Blast Resistant’ louvres. Each individual blade is ‘tethered’ using vertical stainless steel wire rope that ‘threads’ through punched holes in each blade and ties back to anchor brackets at the top and bottom of the system. The louvres are situated both internally and externally providing enclosed areas between the buttresses hiding the air pumps for the 8,500m² of ETFE roof above. Access to these pumps is via removable panels & doors within the louvre system.
High level ALPS/Colt 2UL/SH louvres were used within the high level, triangular gables to allow heat & fumes to escape whilst preventing the ingress of rain onto the platform(s) below.
Both the galvanized steel 1UL/DH and the aluminium 2UL/SH louvre systems were unpainted / mill finish.
